Viber Bot Administrators & Ownership Transfer

A Viber Business Bot no longer has to belong to just a single phone number or account. To ensure business continuity and seamless team collaboration, Viber allows you to assign multiple administrators to a single bot, as well as transfer full ownership rights.

Multiple Administrators

You can invite teammates to help manage the bot's settings, profile details, and API tokens. All administrators have equal access to the bot management dashboard inside their respective Viber mobile apps.

How to Add a New Administrator:

  1. Open the Viber mobile app and go to More -> Settings -> Bots -> [Select Your Bot].
  2. Scroll down to the Administrators section and tap Add Administrator (or the invite icon).
  3. Select the contact from your list or enter their Viber-registered phone number.
  4. Once they accept the invitation, they will see the bot in their own Bots menu and can manage its settings.

Transferring Administrative Rights (Ownership)

If the creator of the bot leaves the company or you need to shift the primary responsibility to another account, you can transfer full administrative ownership of the Viber Bot.

:::important Transferring ownership is a permanent action. The new owner will gain complete control over the bot, including the ability to remove other administrators (including you). :::

Step-by-Step Ownership Transfer:

  1. Open your bot's settings in the Viber mobile app.
  2. Tap on the Administrators list.
  3. Select the administrator to whom you want to transfer ownership. (Note: The recipient must already be added as an administrator).
  4. Tap Transfer Ownership (or Make Owner).
  5. Confirm the transfer. Once confirmed, the recipient becomes the primary owner of the bot.

  • No Single Point of Failure: If the creator's phone number is lost, deactivated, or changed, other administrators still retain full access to manage the bot.
